There is a time and place for negotiating gun law reform. Right now is not that time.
Hug your children and tell them you love them.
It wasn’t the right time last week after the mall shooting.
It wasn’t the right time after the linebacker shot his girlfriend and himself.
It wasn’t the right time after Aurora.
It wasn’t the right time after the Sikh temple attack.
It wasn’t the right time after the guy in Minneapolis shot his ex-coworkers.
This list only covers the last 150 days and I’m certain that’s not even every incident.
When is the right time? It seems like the only time anyone outside of Mike Bloomberg even mentions gun control is when they’re saying it’s not the right time to discuss gun control. If we wait until we’re not in the immediate aftermath of an incident, we’re going to be waiting forever.
I’m not sure how to solve the problem. Maybe gun control isn’t the answer. I’m certain it’s not the entire answer. Maybe it’s a problem that can’t be solved. The only thing I know for sure is that we refuse to even discuss it.
