The Awl posted a few of my photos from the eviction that didn’t happen down at #OccupyLA last night. This photo, of the police line at First and Broadway, was taken moments after the line formed, well before it was clear exactly what the police would do. I’m sure it’s no big deal, but I’ve never in my life walked up to an officer in riot gear, baton ready to deliver a beat down, and shoved my camera in his face. There was definitely a kick of adrenaline. Pretty soon it became clear I wasn’t in any real danger, so far as I didn’t do anything exorbitantly stupid. But for a tiny moment I got to let myself think I was some kind of badass. I’m sure any real photographers reading this are laughing at me right now, and probably deservedly so.
Oh, and I got to meet Shepard Fairey and Andrew Breitbart, which was awesome.
Im laughing at the shepard fairey part….i drove right pass this last night when i decided that going to Church & State...

Actually I go into panic mode pretty much any time I photograph a person.
WTF, Breitbart was there and I missed the opportunity to heckle him? OOO, DAMMIT!
AND Breitbart? What...the latter doing there?
