Saying things like, “Hey white person. Yes you. You’re racist.” is a great way to feel superior, particularly if you’re a white person saying it, but it doesn’t help anything, even if you’re right.

If the goal is smug self-satisfaction, then mission accomplished. If the goal is to be less racist and disrupt racism in others, try watching:

Jay Smooth: “How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love Discussing Race”

I’m racist. Hi. I’m not sure who’s smug here. Or superior. I’m tired.

Mad love for Jay Smooth, though.

My point is to get white people to realize there’s no way to be “not racist” just “less racist”

Less racist is the goal.

OK. I agree with that. My response was prompted by the finite nature of your post. You even said “fin”. There was no door open to being better. No chance to work on it.

I should not have responded to a dumbthingswhitepplsay post at all, as I just got reblogged, deliberately misrepresented, and yelled at, despite the fact that I was clearly responding to you, while simultaneously having the meat of my response (the Jay Smooth link) edited out.
