Record Label - Rough Trade - London
A music mecca and ambassador for independent record stores, Rough Trade finds its roots in Notting Hill circa 1976. The label, Rough Trade Records, signed The Smiths in the early days and now with a repertoire including Arcade Fire, Belle & Sebastian, The Strokes and Warpaint, Rough Trade have kept the music industry and aficionados on their toes over the years. Crane.tv met Stephen Godfroy, director of Rough Trade shops, in the flagship store, Rough Trade East, near London’s Bricklane to hear about Rough Trade’s unique relationship with the music industry and why Godfroy feels the store genuinely touches people.
